Madeline Martin is a New York Times, USA Today, Publishers’ Weekly, and international bestselling author of historical fiction and historical romance with books that have been translated into more than twenty-five languages. She lives in sunny Florida with her two daughters (known collectively as “the minions”), two incredibly spoiled cats, and a man so wonderful he’s been dubbed Mr. Awesome. When she’s not writing, reading or ‘mom-ing’, you can find her spending time with her family at Disney World or sneaking a couple spoonfuls of Nutella while laughing over cat videos. She also loves research and travel, attributing her fascination with history to having spent most of her childhood as an Army brat in Germany.

FIVE fun facts about Madeline
- I spent most of my childhood in Germany on three different tours when my father was in the Army for a total of about 12 years.
- I have two rescue cats who “help” me write every day. My calico, Ink, sits in my lap and forces me to pet her and my black cat, Gunner, sits on the back of my chair.
- I learn the language of every country I travel to—enough to ask how people are, order food, ask for and understand directions, etc.—helping me feel more immersed in the culture.
- I once spent a whole year learning how to ride a horse to do a horseback riding safari in South Africa with my oldest daughter.
- I wrote a book in the 4th grade that I illustrated myself, complete with a hardcover made of cardboard glued to fabric. It was about four friends who are in a plane crash and land on a deserted island, where they become mermaids.
