FIVE fun facts about Allison

  1. I’ve traveled to six of the seven continents. Some of my favorite adventures abroad include living in the Costa Rican rainforest while completing my yoga teacher training certification and moving to Paris on my own while transitioning from a career as a news writer to writing my first novel.
  2. The greatest storytellers I’ve ever known were my two grandmothers. I was fortunate to share incredibly close relationships with both of them well into my thirties, and they gifted me with their treasure troves of stories, hard-earned wisdom, and collective memories.
  3. Friends and community are two of the gravitational forces in my life. Alongside my husband, Dave, I’m a proud mama of three incredible daughters and one sweet rescue mutt.
  4. As a kid, I made it to the World Finals of an international creativity competition called Odyssey of the Mind multiple times. Imagine my excitement the year that “World’s” was hosted in Disney World!
  5. I love researching and writing about the women from history who were considered “too much”—too bold, too brilliant, too ambitious, too disruptive. These were the women who not only witnessed history and culture but also helped shape them.
